Dashboad
Mac OS X 10.4 Tigerに実装されたDashboad。古き良きSystem 6のデスクアクセサリの再来を思わせる小さなWidgetの収集は、どうも癖になりそうだ。Widgetがデスクアクセサリよりさらに興味深いのは、インターネットから株価、天気予報、Web Camの画像なんかを瞬時に集めて、リアルタイムに表示してくれるところ。
例えば、俺が地球上でこのエントリーを書いてる今、太陽はこんな所で輝いているのを知ることができる。
About Sunlit Earth
Based on the popular Sunlit Earth Java application and applet created by Don Carona of the Texas A&M Astronomical Observatory. This simple and asthetic widget will display the sunlit portion of the Earth. The widget updates once per minute and has no user preferences. The Earth images used by the widget are courtesy NASA and NASA’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS).
